4+ Years of Impact at Fortna

As the lead UX Designer and manager at Fortna, I was entrusted with the autonomy to shape the user experience on my own terms. This responsibility allowed me to drive meaningful change across multiple projects, consistently delivering solutions that enhanced both usability and business outcomes.

One of my most significant contributions was redesigning the decant flow process. The following animated GIFs illustrate the dramatic transformation that resulted from my designs:

Old Design
New Design

These images highlight the before-and-after comparison of Fortna’s decanting process. Key improvements include:

  • 50% Reduction in Screen Count: Simplified workflows to eliminate unnecessary screens, streamlining the user experience.
  • Enhanced Navigation: A more intuitive layout that reduces cognitive load and increases user efficiency.
  • Improved Visual Design: Reduced screen flicker and flash to minimize eye strain and improve comfort during extended use.
  • 36% Faster Decanting Process: A performance boost that directly impacts operational efficiency, resulting in measurable time savings.

These results were derived from A/B testing with 60 participants, split between industry professionals and individuals with no warehousing experience. Despite varying backgrounds, the results were consistent across the board, demonstrating the universal effectiveness of the new design. The tests were double-blind to ensure objective feedback, meaning participants were unaware of the design changes or which version they were interacting with.

In addition to this high-impact project, I was responsible for the complete redesign of Fortna’s Warehouse Execution System (WES), Warehouse Control System (WCS), and Optislot (slot optimization system). Due to security and confidentiality protocols, I’m unable to publicly share these designs, but I am happy to provide a detailed walkthrough in a live setting or video conference.

How Can I help?
