The Challenge
SimpleFLOORS was operating with a fragmented, underperforming e-commerce presence that failed to communicate the premium quality of their product. The existing platform lacked intuitive navigation, optimized product pages, and a streamlined customer journey; resulting in high drop-off rates and missed revenue opportunities across multiple store locations nationwide
My Role
As Marketing Project Manager and UX Designer, I led the end-to-end redesign and launch of SimpleFLOORS’ multi-store e-commerce platform. My responsibilities spanned UX strategy, information architecture, product page optimization, customer journey mapping, digital marketing, SEO, product photography, and campaign management — owning the full experience from discovery through post-launch growth.
THE PROCESS
Discover
I began with a comprehensive audit of the existing platform — analyzing site analytics, customer drop-off points, product page performance, and competitor positioning. Key findings revealed that customers were struggling to visualize flooring products in their own spaces, product pages lacked sufficient detail and imagery to drive purchase confidence, and the checkout process created unnecessary friction. I also conducted customer interviews to understand the purchase decision journey for a high-consideration product like flooring — where tactile experience is traditionally expected but had to be replicated digitally.
Define & Design
Using research findings to inform the redesign strategy, I restructured the information architecture to support a multi-store model, redesigned product pages with richer imagery and specification detail, and optimized the customer journey from discovery through checkout. I managed all product photography to ensure consistent, high-quality visual representation across the catalog. SEO strategy was integrated from the ground up amd building organic discoverability into the platform architecture rather than treating it as an afterthought.
Deliver & Measure
The redesigned platform launched across all SimpleFLOORS locations. Post-launch performance was tracked across conversion rates, organic traffic, and online sales revenue. The results validated the design strategy comprehensively — with sustained growth across all key metrics driven by the combination of improved UX, richer product content, and integrated SEO.

This project was built from the ground up — entirely. I architected and implemented the backend CMS, the inventory management system, and the full frontend e-commerce experience on the Magento platform. Every line of the customer journey, every product page, every store view across multiple US and Canadian locations was designed and built by me. I also created all physical media used across those locations — product photography, room scene compositing, print collateral, and digital campaign assets — serving as the sole creative and technical lead from concept through nationwide deployment.
Fast-forward today, over twelve years ago and they’re still using my designs.
Photo Manipulations
A key differentiator for SimpleFLOORS was helping customers visualize premium flooring in their own spaces before purchasing. I developed a full photo manipulation workflow — from raw product photography through perspective correction, lighting, shadow creation, and final room scene compositing. Below is the step-by-step process and a few finished images I created.
